The girls’ Fossil Ridge High School volleyball team has gone 6-1 with many games still to play. They’re an older team because most of them are seniors. The girls are definitely showing their talents especially over the win against Rocky Mountain. “This year’s season is going to be a good one,” Senior Hannah Casebolt said. “We are an overall solid team and we have a good chance of winning state.”
If the girls keep playing the way they are they will make it to Conference, then to State qualifiers. The team has full faith from their peers. FRHS makes a crowd for these girls and gives them steady support every match point they get. Casebolt said, “I would like to say to come out and support us. The more fans we get, the more exciting the match is going to be,” Casebolt said.
The girls work well together, they have all played and they all know each other’s strengths. Senior Katherine Stevens said, “Our biggest strength is our team itself. True, we can smash balls into people’s faces and block like a solid brick wall, but no matter what happens our attitude remains the same: to play for each other.” They are a well rounded team and they have a solid defense and offense.
The girls have great coaches who are very supportive and they give the girls a chance to rise to the occasion. Under head coach Paul Shimek, it seems that the girls will have no problem reaching their goal to win state.
“It’s really great to have a strong support system, and we definitely have that this year,” Stevens said. “We have seven or so coaches available to let us know how we are doing now and how to improve for the future.”
