For a life long Broncos fan like myself, deciding to go to the Super Bowl parade in Denver on Tuesday just came along as an automatic add-on with the team’s win this past Sunday.
Yes, I have technically seen two Super Bowl championships be claimed by the Broncos, but I just truly experienced a Super Bowl victory for the first time in my life last Sunday. The Broncos won one Super Bowl when I was less than a year old, and one just less than a week ago.
I wasn’t completely sure that fighting off the hundreds of thousands of fans in the city would be the most enjoyable way to celebrate the Super Bowl victory, but once I entered down town, my energy was consumed by the excitement associated with being there up close and personal.
After a season of so many ups and downs, being able to celebrate with a whole city that shares the same excitement as you, is a feeling that a fan can truly never forget. There is a certain aspect of sports that never seems to amaze me, but I also always seem to forget, and it is the community that can arise from a common liking of a team. It is a day that you’ll always remember as a fan, being part of almost a million people that came together despite diversity in gender, personalities, age, and other factors, to welcome home their team and celebrate the city’s third Super Bowl Victory.
