Miss. Admire loves to dance. “I love dancing because it helps me release my emotions in an effective way, whether angry or sad, dancing is a great escape and helps me to stay calm and effectively release my emotions.” Madison has participated in so many different types of dance. Although she has tried many types, hip-hop has stolen her heart. She says “you can see people’s emotions. In a way, you can look into them and see how they’re feeling just by the way they dance. You start to feel how they feel.”
She is inspired by her daily life, “Mostly, I’ve been inspired just by things I see every day. Movies, posters, people at school. Everything can be an inspiration to me. I’m inspired by my own feelings and emotions. My heart is what guides me through dance, not my head. My favorite part of being on the dance team is the way you begin to feel. It doesn’t feel like a team. It feels like a family. This dance team works together as one, as 14 girls coming together because they share the same interests. Coming together to become a 2nd family. We laugh together, cry together. We accomplish goals together, and overcome obstacles together. We even do our makeup together. We’re like a family of sisters and our coach is like our great aunt who brings us presents every time she comes to visit.” Those memories are her favorite part about being on the schools team. Coming together as a group of girls who loves the same thing, Dance.
Madison decided to join the dance team because she wanted to be part of something bigger than herself. Each year the girls work harder and their rankings go up, jumping from 10th to 8th this last year. She says that a normal practice begins with stretching and warming up. Depending on their schedule the girls will learn a new dance or perfect a dance for competition. She says that the best part about being part of the team is being part of a family.
Besides dance, Madison loves to hang out with her friends and watch Pretty Little Liars. She says her mother is her biggest support. She helps to prepare her for big games and competitions. She hopes to make a difference in the world after high school. She loves to make clothes and loves art because it is relaxing and fun. This 10th grader shows great promise for her future on the schools dance team and will be one to watch heading into next years season.
