Fossil Ridge High School came out strong against Monarch High School on Tuesday, September 13,  taking the lead in the first 30 seconds of the game. The Fossil main gym was alive with noise as the girls communicated well with one another throughout the first set which quickly led them into taking the lead. Monarch doesn’t give the lead up very easily, keeping Fossil on their toes as the game goes from a one point lead to a tie.  Fossil then redeems themselves putting themselves in a  7 point lead. It was their teamwork and intense effort that ended the first set 26-24 in Fossils favor.

Monarch takes the lead immediately as second set begins with Fossil tying it up only seconds after. helped maintain Fossil’s small lead but lack of power in serves helped Monarch’s score grow. Fossil dominated most of the second set with Monarch scoring few points. The final score at the end of their second set was 25-14 in favor of Fossil.

The pressure began to rise and so did the anticipation as the third and final set began with Fossil struggling with too much power in their serves to too little power. Monarch and Fossil remained within 1point of each other for most of the third set. Fossil began making mistakes once there was only 4 more points to be scored until the end of the set but Fossil prevailed with a final score of 25-16, maintaining Fossil’s undefeated streak.

Fossil’s JV won both their first and second sets against Monarch. The score of the first set was 25-12 and 25-20 was the score of the second set. Another win and showing performance by Fossil.

C-team and D-team also won their games. The scores for C-team were 25-13 for first set and 25-12 for their second set winning both. D-team had scores of 20-25, losing their first set, winning 25-17 second set sending them into a third set which they won 15-6.
