It’s as if they never lost

Fossil Ridge High School and Boulder High School pitted their volleyball teams against each other on Thursday, October 13. Fossils varsity immediately took the lead in the first set and set the tone for the match. Fossil crushed Boulder in the first set as they played off each other’s strengths and communicated excellently.  Boulder put up a good fight and scored some great points of their own, but it was Fossil who came out victorious. The first set ended with a score of 25-14 in the favor of Fossil.

Second set began with Boulder taking the lead. Boulder played amazingly and took a 10 point lead on Fossil, looking as if they would take the set. Finally after a brief timeout Fossil got it’s groove back, the girls immediately started playing stronger again. They obliterated the lead Boulder had taken and turned it into a lead of their own. The final score of the second set was 25-16, in the favor of Fossil.

The third and final set started off with a standoff. Both teams played with a heightened intensity that wasn’t there in the first or second set. Both teams kept the other on their toes, no one team taking the lead. Finally Fossil took a dominant lead with Boulder scoring points here and there. The final score was 25-15, a win for Fossil. With only two losses on Fossil’s record they’re looking good for going to state.

Junior varsity kicked off their game with an amazing effort. The girls didn’t do so great in the first set, losing with a score of 25-23. But as their outstanding win finished the second set with a score of 25-11, they got launched into a third set. The third set was intense and Boulder pushed Fossil so they could win. But when Fossil makes a comeback, the third set finished with a score of a 15-10.
