On Wednesday August 23, Fossil Ridge High School held its fall semester Add/Drop. This was an opportunity for students who are unhappy with their class schedules to shift periods around, add, and drop classes. Though doors opened at 7, students were lined up as early as 5:15 to ensure they got their top picks.

There were a wide variety of attendees, including those who had never been to an Add/Drop, and seasoned veterans. Freshman Skye Applegate arrived at 7:00 for her first ever Add/Drop and was shocked to see the lines.“I stood in line for an hour! But it was good, I got what I wanted,” she said.

On the other end of the spectrum were Deionus Bauer and Ayden Adair. “I would call it more of a tradition because we like to get here early and be the first people…we put up some chairs and we were just chilling. It’s just fun,” commented Bauer.  Adair added, “We brought chairs, pillows, blankets, the whole camping fiasco. We brought board games, we got everything.”

Though both students were able to get the classes they were hoping for, they had several bad encounters with their peers pushing and shoving their way to the front. “People at Fossil should feel ashamed of the lack of human decency and public respect they showed today,” said Adair

Despite this however, Add/Drop was deemed a success. “We had a ton of kids come look at what they could do with their schedule,” said interim principal Chaplain, “Sometimes kids can get into a class and sometimes they can’t. While kids may want to change their mind, sometimes we have to tell them to stick  with what they chose in the fall because we can’t have too many or too few kids it any class. But, overall it went really well.”
