Volleyball lives up to last year’s hype after an undefeated week

Fossil Ridge High School beat Chaparral High School on Tuesday, August 29 at Chaparral. Fossil went into this season with a state championship win from last year, as well as the loss of many strong senior players. The varsity team consists of mostly juniors, many of whom were on the varsity squad their sophomore year.

Fossil had a rocky start to the game when they lost the first set 15-25, however, they redeemed themselves in the following three sets. Chaparral put up a fight and almost won the second set, but Fossil proved its skills superior again and won 25-22. They then went on to win the third set 25-17 and finished the game by winning the final set 25-18.

The Sabercats played again on Thursday, August 31 at Golden High School. This game was only three sets, all in which Fossil won. The Sabercats won the first set 25-18, the second set 25-20 and the final set 25-15. This makes Fossil undefeated in their first week of the season, an impressive start for hopefully another successful season.

Fossil will play again at Thursday, September 5 away at Monarch High School, the game starts at 6:30. Make sure to wish a volleyball player good luck before their next game.
