Students represent Fossil in Western States Orchestra
On Friday, September 29, the Western States Honor Orchestra Festival sent out its list of the students who successfully auditioned to participate in the event. A total of six students from Fossil Ridge High School’s orchestra were selected into two orchestras, the Symphony Orchestra, the second group, and Chamber Orchestra, the top group. Being placed in either orchestra is an honor.
Symphony Orchestra:
Amy Koo- Violin
Jeannie Zhang- Violin
Esther Jeong- Violin
Josh Lee- Cello
Chamber Orchestra:
Hannah Mullins- Viola
Alexander “Sasha” Chappell- Cello
Josh Lee, a cellist, describes Western States as “a lifetime opportunity for students all over… to show their love of music, and it’s a great experience to work with others who have similar passions.” Students will start attending the weekend of strings November 2 to the 4. During the weekend, students will attend workshops and work with guest conductor German Gutierrez, as well as attending master classes held by cellist Robert deMaine.
