A Youth All-American soccer player attends Fossil Ridge
On the night of Monday, November 20 the United Soccer Coaches announced the Youth All-Region and All-American Teams as well as the National Player of the Year award.
A total of 99 players (49 boys, 50 girls) were honored as United Soccer Coaches Youth All-Americans. These players, along with their families and coaches, will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Luncheon on January 20, 2018 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in conjunction with the 2018 United Soccer Coaches Convention in Philadelphia.

Among the 99 players, current senior at Fossil Ridge High School, Sophie Smith was named to the All-American Team as well as the Midwest Regional Team. Smith is a well known youth soccer player that has put her name out there nationally. She has been called up to the U-19, U-20, and U-23 national teams as well as played for the U-17, her age, national team. In March 2017, she was called up to the senior national team for two international friendlies against Russia.
Another player that had attended Fossil Ridge her freshman through junior year was also named to the All-American and Midwest Regional teams. Jaelin Howell and Sophie Smith were the power duo of Colorado soccer players, they were both called up to the senior national team at the same time. However, Howell was also named the National Player of the Year for girls.
Congratulations to each of these athletes as they receive national awards for their skills on the soccer field.

**A
Only use ‘an’ before a word beginning with a vowel sound. ‘A’ goes before words beginning with a consonant sound.
