The Sabercats girls swim team struggles to keep up in meet against Windsor

Thursday, January 23rd, Fossil Ridge had a swim meet against Windsor high school and unfortunately lost, with the final score 127 to 56 Sabercats. Even though Fossil lost, they ended up placing in one of the top five spots in every event. The Sabercats did there bet in the 200 yard medley relay, 100 yard butterfly, 200 yard freestyle relay, and the 100 yard breaststroke. Below are a few of the results in order from the best events that fossil swam in.

The ninth event was the 200 yard freestyle relay, the Sabercats took first, fifth, and seventh place. Kara Trombley, Zara Alkaff, Megan Patrilla, and Georgia Ewer placed first with a time of 1:56.36 earning them 8 points for the team. Ainsley Tyree, Ella Peterson, Cale Gonzalez, and Brnn Scharte, received fifth place, with a finishing time of 2:07.82. In seventh place of the race was Anna Rehm, Lauren Houldsworth, Maggie Carson, and Taylor McBride, they had a time of 2:16.60. The Sabercats earned a total of 8 points from this event.

The seventh event was the 100 yard freestyle, fossil took second, fourth, fifth, seventh, and eighth place. Stefanie Pfahnl received second place with the time of 1:00.95 earning fossil four points. Ella Peterson had a time of 1:08.12 and placed fourth and received 2 points from the event. Taylor McBride received fifth place and had a time of 1:09.18 and earned the Sabercats one points. In seventh place was Maggie Carson with a time of 1:17.02, and Lauren Houldsworth had a time of 1:21.44 and received eighth place. In total fossil earned 7 points for their team.

Second, fourth, fifth, sixth, ninth, and eleventh place was earned in the eleventh event which was the 100 yard breaststroke. In second place was Stefanie Pfahnl with a time of 1:16.86, she received 4 four points. Kara Trombley had a time of 1:22.20 and received fourth place, earning 2 points. Georgia Ewer had a time of 1:23.71 earning the Sabercats 1 point. Alex Hill received sixth place with a time of 1:25.59. Megan Petrilla had a time of 1:32.59 and ended up in ninth place, and Kate Miller received eleventh place with a time of 1:39.58. In total the Sabercats earned 7 points from this event.

The next meet that the Sabercats will be competing in is the conference meet on February 1. Wish them luck next time you see one of the swimmers on the team.
