A journey through Almost, Maine

December 6, 2019

Although the run of Almost, Maine consisted of four performances, there were two separate casts. This year, the theater department decided to take on a new challenge by casting every actor in multiple roles. The play consisted of nine separate stories from the town, and actors were able to take part in two separate ones. For example, senior Chloe Iverson played Glory in “Her Heart,” as well as Sandrine in “Sad and Glad.”

The purpose of this idea was to grow students’ acting abilities by portraying different characters, and working with multiple partners. Additionally, each cast had a different director. According to the directors, they were, “thrilled to learn about the myriad possibilities in a text by exploring how artists create something unique in varying combinations.”

Kristin Rust and John Garner, the directors of the play, were extremely proud of all their teams, including designers, crew, and cast. They all accommodated to the challenges of the new school schedule as well as the challenges of this play to create a beautiful fall play.
