Boys Basketball advances in the playoffs
Tyce Baldwin leaps towards the basket.
A struggle took place on the Fossil Ridge High School main court when the boy’s basketball team faced Heritage High School. Boys from both schools fought for control of the ball throughout the entire game, resulting in a Sabercat victory 77-60 on Wednesday night. This game proved to be a close match, however, Fossil never gave up and continued to fight until the very last second.

Owen Cornmesser break by the Eagles Defense.
Heritage took the lead very early in the first quarter. They managed to put six points up on the board before Fossil was able to score any baskets. As the Sabercats began to ease into the game, they quickly took the lead. The defense continued to force the Eagles to give the ball up, whereas the offense began passing the ball in circles around Heritage High School. This resulted in the Sabercats securing the lead heading into the second quarter 18-13. This pattern continued throughout the rest of the second quarter. At the end of the quarter, Fossil still held the lead at 35-32, even though the Eagles scored more points in the second quarter overall.
Another intense half ensued when both teams returned to the court after the Fossil Ridge Dance Team performed at halftime. Fossil and Heritage both maintained incredibly fluidity, however, Fossil seemed to be in better physical shape than their opponents. It began clear to everybody watching Fossil was nowhere near as tired as the Eagles were near the end of the game. Fossil held the lead strong, resulting in a 77-60 win. Come see the boys play Smokey Hill this Saturday at the next round of the playoffs. Good job Sabercats, and good luck this Saturday.
