Girls finish first, Boys sixth at conference championships
The Fossil Ridge cross country completed the Front Range League Championship on Friday, October 8.
The boys finished the day in sixth place, but still had several standouts. Junior Cy Teruel finished 7th with a 16:39, earning him a berth as First Team All Conference. Senior Luke Spencer finished with a 17:30, earning him a spot on Second Team All Conference. Honorable All-Conference members for the boys team included Jackson Lang, Carter Brazelton, and Joey Souverein.

The girls team fared much better, as all seven varsity runners made either the first or second all conference team. Second Team All Conference runners included Alaire Serell, Delaney Voronin, Monica Jarosz, and Sam Geraets, as all four runners finished between 15th and 25th place. Lena Fogarty, Mia Williams, and Tatum Berg all earn First Team All Conference spots by finishing in the top 15, with Berg finishing first overall.
Freshman Tatum Berg would be the standout, finishing the race first with an 18:30 final time.
“I was thinking way back at mile two like, I think I can win this…when I was at the top of the hill, I was running down, and that’s when I knew I was gonna win. And I was so happy when I crossed the finish line,” Berg said.

Fossil prides themselves on their team spirit, as they will hype each other up. The girls team even have several team rituals, one including kissing each other’s shoes.
“…we are all very supportive of one another, we’re all going crazy after our races, cheering each other on,” Berg said.
The Fossil Cross Country will be competing at the regionals meet on Thursday, October 21 over in Greeley.
