The Fossil Ridge cross country season came to a close after their impressive State performance.

The State meet took place on Saturday, October 30 in Colorado Springs, as the Fossil team traveled to compete with over 40 high schools and 310 participants.

The boys’ team finished the day in 14th place, the same exact spot which they finished last year. Five of the seven members finished the day in the top 100, and Cy Teruel ended first on the team in 18th place.

The girls’ team continued their strong season, completing the day in 6th place, with all seven members of the team finishing within the top 100, and four in the top 60.

The top performer for the girls team was freshman Tatum Berg, finishing the day in 13th place, and the highest ranked performance from the Fossil girls’ team since 2014.

Both teams are saying goodbye to several seniors, with Luke Spencer, Monica Jarosz, and Lena Fogarty completing their final season with Fossil Cross Country.

The boys team are now led by four juniors as well as two freshman, as the Sabercats will look to get back in the top ten for the first time since 2017 and second time in team history

However, for the girls team only the underclassmen remain, with two sophomores and three freshmen from this year’s team. Fossil now builds towards becoming a championship contender, seeking their first State title.
