Many unknown queer figures have had their stories told during LGBTQ+ History Month.

Here and queer: The stories of LGBTQ+ history month

While many say that LGBTQ+ identities are a modern trend, queer people have been around for centuries. October is LGBTQ+ history month, which celebrates the stories of queer people in the past and in the present. Everyday, a new icon is featured on the LGBTQ History Month website. This month is a time to learn about queer icons or  discover that some of your favorite historical figures were queer (previous years have featured historical figures like Alexander the Great and Florence Nightengale). Featured below are some of the icons for this year’s LGBTQ+ History Month, but you can find many more on the website.
