Fossil Ridge High School hosted its annual Films on a Shoe-String film festival Friday, May 3 in the Performing Arts Center (PAC).
The festival consisted of documentaries, music videos, and short films made by Television Production students at Fossil.
The student made films are played for viewers in the PAC where audience members vote for their favorite films through a Google Form. The award categories include: Best Supporting Actor in a Female Role, Best Supporting Actor in a Male Role, Best Lead Actor in a Male Role, Best Lead Actor in a Female Role, Best Writing, Best Production Design, Best Sound Desing, Best Original Score, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Director, and Best Picture.
“Shattered”, a short film about a queer girl struggling with romantic feelings for her best friend, won eight out of 14 awards. Best Supporting Actress went to Ruby Allen; Best Lead Actor in a Female Role went to Lily Halac; Best Sound Design went to Charlie Tishkowski, Owen Gossman, Anna Patterson; Best Cinematography went to Jakob Huber; Best Editing went to Anna Patterson; Best Director went to Ash Gensel; and Best Picture went to the film as a whole.
The short film “Middleground” is about a group of teens exploring their school after hours, only to discover supernatural activity, won Best Supporting Actor in a Male Role, Best Leading Actor in a Male Role, and Best Production Design (Tie with “Life Support”). These awards were given to Clark Barry, Charlie Tishkowski, Corvus Clark, Jayce Samuel, and Trace Layton.
“Life Support” is a short film about a patient who has feelings for her nurse. The film’s awards include: Best Production Design for Ash Gensel, Oliver Cossins, Corvus Clark, Jayce Samuel, Grace Howell, and Trace Layton, and Best Original Score to Clark Barry.
