On Friday January 18, Fossil Ridge took on the Greeley West Spartans in basketball. The Sabercat basketball team was on fire while each team won and pulled off a program sweep, records were broken, and huge wins were found on Friday night.
Boys Varsity tipped off at 7:30 pm where they started off draining shots and never looked back with a final score of 95-40 against Greeley West.
Drake Walker, Donovan Banek, and Cayden Clagett did the majority of the scoring and combined for half of the final score.
Fossil’s glass cleaner was Donovan Banek with a 10 rebound performance which means the big man earned himself a double-double for putting up 14 points on top of his 10 rebounds while shooting 63% from the field. Carter Gray and Walker Shields shared the ball frequently and led the game in assists with five a piece.
Girls Varsity who started at 6:00 pm had the largest win of the season with the final score of 82-16 over the Spartans.
“Player of the Game”, Addy Sandstedt broke the record for most made threes in a game by a player in school history. Sandstedt went 12/16 from the three and the field. All 36 of Sandstedt’s points were three-point shots. With Sandstedt only being a Freshman, this accomplishment makes fans hope there’s more to come.
With both varsity teams leading themselves to the win, all of Fossil Ridge’s basketball teams won, earning a program sweep. To round things up, the Sabercats gathered nothing but wins on the snowy Friday night.
