Fossil Ridge took on Poudre in a cross-town rivalry match on Friday night, the 24th. Fossil hosted Poudre, where both varsity teams dominated over the Impalas.
Boys varsity tipped off at 7:30 pm and took an immediate lead early and never gave it back, finishing the game with a 63-39 victory over the Impalas.
Some outstanding players for the Sabercats include Drake Walker, who led the game in scoring, tallying 17 points on 78% field goal percentage and 60% from deep.
Rebounds were hard to come by for Fossil Ridge because of Poudre’s big men attack but it didn’t stop PG Carter Gray who rallied and came down with 8 rebounds of his own on the night.
Gray also kept moving the ball around which earned him 5 assists which also led the team in that stat.
Keeping players fresh and ready to play was a part of Fossil Ridge’s plan as they played 11 players compared to Poudre’s 7.
Girls Varsity, who tipped off at 6:00, had a great team win and defensive performance against the Impalas and finished with a final score 47-29.
Ellie Johnson took control of the post and led the game in points, marking up 16 on the night.
Gianna Leone and Ellie Johnson were the Sabercats’ main glass cleaners. Leone with 8 rebounds and Johnson with 7.
The assist leaders for the team were Lily Wale and Gianna Leone who were sharing the ball and both coming down with 3 assists each.
