Fossil Ridge senior class officers are leading their last year with purpose by giving back to the school that shaped them.
“I wanted to be a part of the class officership because I wanted to leave an impact on the school. So getting the opportunity to organize all these fun senior events to make our last year at Fossil memorable,” said Senior Class President Caitlin Miller.

One of the ways seniors leave their mark is through a gift.
“The main way we give back to the school is through that senior gift, kind of thinking about things we wanted to change over the past four years and being able to change that for other people,” said Vice President Natalie Fleener.

While the application process to become an officer is time-consuming, the class leaders agree that it is worthwhile to give back to their school.
“It was a lot of questions, but pretty easy to answer, because we all knew that we wanted to be a part of this and make an impact, so we can really be genuine with it,” Fleener said.
The officers share advice for incoming seniors.
“Form relationships with teachers, because you need teacher recommendations,” said Fleener. “You’re going to need more than you think.”
Other than forming relationships with teachers, there is more to senior year than college recommendations, such as unusual classes offered for upperclassmen.
“Adventure PE, not everyone can take it, and not everybody has their license, but that has been the highlight of classes for me, just all the new people I’ve gotten to meet, and all the cool experiences that I’ve gotten to do. It’s been really fun over this past quarter,” said Max Childs, Senior Class Secretary.
The officers agree that senior year is meant to be fun and to let loose.
“Don’t worry about embarrassing yourself in front of everybody. Do the activities you want to do, go to the events you want to do, be outrageous, and have fun. It’s your last year,” said Fleener.
