Fossil Ridge High School is gaining a new department. Etched in Stone, Ridge TV, Theater, Yearbook and Forensics will all become part of the new communications department.
“The problem is that we are lumped under older departments,” TV teacher Brendan Gallagher said. Anything that has to do with spreading information will be put under a new model that colleges are taking on which is a multimedia blend.
“The goal is for students to take more than one class,” said Gallagher who hopes students will try learning about multiple types of media. This spring students enrolled in these classes will be taking a trip and participating in a service project, the destination and project are yet to be decided upon. The point of the trip is to show students the change they are capable of making.
Some students who are enrolled in one of the communications classes are a part of the Fossil Ridge Culture Team that began this year. The culture team was formed to create a unified school and allow for clubs to interact and make an impact on the school.
The goal of the new department is to take monetary and time strain off of other departments that currently encapture those classes. It will also allow the communication teachers discuss their classes with a main goal in mind.

I’m interested in this because I’m in Journalism 1 and my dad is a part of the JTC department at CSU. Seems too short for the topic. It’d be nice to know what departments the classes used to be from.

I’m really interested in this topic because I am in Ridge TV and Journalism 1. This article seems short. I think there is more to explore and communicate about this topic.
