The Denver Botanical Gardens on York Street is currently hosting over 20 different works by world renowned glass artist, Dale Chihuly. The exhibit will continue to be on display until Nov. 30. Tickets must be purchased to enter. Adult tickets cost $15.00, senior tickets are $12.00 and child tickets are $9.00.
Chihuly has had his works placed all over the world, from Italy to Japan to the Bahamas. He started working with glass as an art form while he was studying interior design at the University of Washington. After Chihuly graduated in 1965 he continued to study glass art at the University of Wisconsin and the Rhode Island School of Design, where he would launch a glass program and later teach for over a decade. Chihuly went on to co-found the Pilchuck Glass School in Washington in 1971.
The Denver Botanical Gardens has Chihuly’s work placed throughout the entire facility, intertwined with the setting as if they had been there all along. There are lights around the pieces so that they will glow after dark, and guests are encouraged to come to the exhibit once the sun has set. Chihuly had a brief exhibit at the Fort Collins Museum of Art in Old Town during February of 2012, mainly filled with bowls and small art pieces. In comparison, the exhibit at the Botanical Gardens is massive. There is everything from glass bulbs to towers over 20 feet tall. The gardens alone are worth the visit, but the Chihuly exhibit is well worth the drive to Denver.

Your photos were beautiful. I also like how you provided background information on the artist. Also, it was great how you provided information regarding where, when, and how much it cost to visit the exhibit. Excellent job!

Very informative. The glass pieces look extremely interesting. You provided good information about the exhibit for the reader and you gave a simple description of the exhibit without giving it away.

First of all I REALLY like all of the pictures. Most articles i normally read only contain a couple of pictures which really don’t give you a feel of the overall experience you would have if you actually go to the exhibit. I also really like the informative part at the beginning that give you prices of admission because i don’t want to have to do research after i learn about something. It is very beneficial to have an article that gives you all you need.

The photo essay and article were really enjoyable. My parents went to the glass art gallery and said it was really pretty. That type of art interests me and I think the pictures were really cool to look at.

The photos are very good, and each picture is taken with a lot of care and preciseness. Good job.

I like how the basic information is right away and then talks about who the artist is.
The pictures are really good, but the ones where there are two of the art in the lake feel unnecessary.

Once I read this article, it made me want to visit the Denver Botanical Gardens! I felt that your pictures were kind of repetitive; for example you had 3 pictures of the same orange and red sculpture.

Your photography skills are far superior to mine. Enjoyed the pictures and it looked like a great exhibit.

Artistic and informative at the same time. Loved how some shots were wide shots and some were close ups.

I thought this was a very good photo essay and made myself as the viewer want to visit there sometime. The pictures were very focused and clear and used elements of photography.

That is so neat! The pictures are amazing and I liked the way you angled the camera for some.

I just really liked this article you should keep writing about these not as popular events for high school students because I wasn’t aware this was going on but it looks pretty cool to go see.
