Jaylyn Belcastro

A sophomore at Fossil Ridge High School and a first-year writer for the Etched in Stone. Even though this is her first year on the newspaper team, Jaylyn has some prior experience in Journalism in former classes here at the school. With Journalism 1 earlier this year, she has found that writing is one of her favorite things to do because she can have some freedom to go find stories that she is interested in.

Some hobbies that Belcastro is involved in are soccer, art, and working. Belcastro intends to get into art more because it brings her joy and a way to debrief. Art used to be a big part in Belcastro’s life then it faded out so she wants to get back into it more. Belcastro also has a passion for soccer which she had to stop playing because of an injury but she still helps coach her little sister’s team. For some extra money, Belcastro is a lifeguard and babysits when she can. Belcastro’s favorite food is Italian and says it’s because of her heritage in Italy. It’s one of her life goals to go visit a specific part in Italy which happens to be her last name, Belcastro, Italy.

Belcastro, growing up in Las Vegas, Nevada, made the change about 4 years ago to Fort Collins and she has loved the change. After bouncing around many different schools in the past few years, Belcastro plans to graduate next year and graduate early to attend CSU. Belcastro doesn’t have a dream career picked out yet but all she wants to do is find a job where she is happy. One word she used to describe herself is independent. Belcastro did note that she doesn’t want a job where she is sitting at a desk behind a computer all day.
