The Fossil Ridge High School varsity softball team lost against Broomfield High School on the night of Tuesday, September 20. The Sabercats lost against the Eagles with a score of 5-0. Fossil was ranked No. 2 and Broomfield was ranked No. 1 going into the game.
The Sabercats put up a fight throughout the first three innings, not allowing Broomfield to score any runs. But the Eagles brought the heat in the fourth and fifth inning, scoring 5 runs to pull them ahead 0-5.
The Sabercats made an effort throughout the game to score a run. As the bases were loaded, the girls were encouraging others to get them “home.” Some of the girls made it to 3rd base, but weren’t able to make it home because the Broomfield pitcher had unusual movement making it difficult for the Fossil batters. The softball team is now 12-3, ranked No. 6 in 5A.
