With the Sabercats advancing in full swing, Fossil Ridge High School’s varsity softball team took home a win against Mountain Range High School on Tuesday, October 4 at Mountain Range in Westminster. Scoring a 10-7 win for the Sabercats, the Fossil varsity softball team is currently ranked No. 5 in 5A of the state of Colorado for high school softball.
In the first inning catcher, Hayley Henderson scored a homerun within the first 10 minutes of the start of the game and a three-run play. Henderson started off the scoreboard to 5-2, making Fossil win throughout the start of the game.
Freshman pitcher, Lanyden Bruce currently stands at a 1.000 fielding percentage and a earn run average of 3.05 after the game against Mountain Range. Senior pitcher, Megan Jamison shut Mountain Range down on Tuesday night when Mountain Range only scored 2-3 hits when Jamison was pitching.
Fielding percentage in softball shows the stats of how well an individual did on the field. For example, Lanyden Bruce got a 1.000 fielding percentage which means currently she stands at no errors on the field. Earn run average is your total of earned runs that was fully enabled by the offensive team, that is than calculated as your earn run average.
Currently, the team’s batting average is at .437 and their base percentage is at .507 which dominates the National Average.
Fossil varsity softball’s next game is scheduled for Friday, October 7 at Fossil Ridge High School against Eaglecrest High School. The game starts right after school at 3:00 pm at the softball fields. Come out and support your lady Sabercats in their last game of the season.

I thought this article was well put together with how the averages are calculated and the information to then calculate them is also there. Also great title!

There should be more stats about the game against Mountain Range
