Behind the scenes of spirit week

Many see homecoming week as a fun-filled week of pj’s, costumes, and fancy clothes, but behind all of the onesies and flannel, Stuco has been working all summer and the past few months of school preparing for this short week. “For themes we had our committee throw out ideas and we made a list from there,” said Dennis Arguelles. Stuco settled on Pj Monday, pink out Tuesday with $15 tickets for those who participate, lumberjack Wednesday, twin day Thursday and Fossil gear Friday. Some other choices they had on the list of themes were days like Senior Citizen day and Tacky Tourist. “My favorite to participate in would of been the Senior Citizen day because I would go all out, I’d bring a walker or a cane or something. It would be funny to see everyone look really old,” Arguelles added. The theme the school voted on for the dance was Classic Hollywood.

“Spirit week is about getting everyone involved and excited for homecoming and that’s why we put it together,” Stuco has been working since the beginning of summer to plan this one week. Spirit week will be devoted to setting up chairs, stages for the assembly and decorations. “The most stressful part is trying to satisfy everyone’s’ ideas of what homecoming will be like because not everyone will like some of the things we do or how we do it but the part I’m looking forward to is the homecoming assembly. We’ve put so much work into it and it’s going to be fun to see it all come together.” The spirit week bonfire is on Wednesday, October 19 starting at 6pm ending at 8:30pm, the assembly will Friday, October 21 and will be lead by Chris Martella and Paige Otto as the MC’s and the homecoming royalty will be announced, and the homecoming dance is on Saturday, October 22 8pm to 11pm. Tickets Are being sold for $20 during spirit week without an activities pass, $15 with a pass, and $23 at the door and student ID’s are required. During lunch and after school they will be sold in front of the PAC, in the commons and in the locker bay.
