Crosstown rivals prove their soccer skills

Fossil Ridge High School junior varsity soccer played Fort Collins High School at French Field on Tuesday, October 4. It’s the biggest rivalry game the boys will play all season and it was intense. Kickoff started and the boys were pumped as Fossil and Collins both got aggressive. Fossil ended up dominating the game and leading with more shots on net than Collins, however none found the back of the net. The Sabercats played smart and had excellent communication, but the frustration of not scoring was evident. The first half went by with almost no fouls. The scored remained tied at 0-0 going into halftime.

Second half began and the weather caused both teams stress. The wind and turf combination made simple passes nearly impossible. Although Fossil started playing with the wind and using their footwork skills, no shots are being completed. With only 15 minutes left in the game and the scoreboard still empty, a small altercation breaks out. Soon players from both on and off the field from Collins and Fossil are fighting. After the player who started the altercation gets ejected the game continues as if nothing happened. The game ended with a score of 0-0. Neither team winning but Fossil leaving with one less player than they started.
