Softball continues their successful season with an 11-1 record

The softball team at Fossil Ridge High School can sometimes get overlooked but the team has had a lot of success this season as well as last season. The team made it to the Final Four of the 5A State Tournament and they were ranked No. 4 in the preseason polls. This season the team has a record of 11-1, losing their only game to No. 1 Eaglecrest.
The most recent home game that the girls played was on Saturday, September 16 against Horizon High School. Going into the game Fossil moved up to rank No. 3 and were ready to come out with yet another win. The Sabercats ended with a close 8-5 win over the Hawks.
Fossil started out the game with scoring 4 runs in the first inning. Kristen Reed and Rheanna Will were the two players that scored; Reed with a double and a steal home, and Will with a triple and a steal home.
Second inning was scoreless and then the Sabercats came out with a bang in the third inning, scoring 4 more runs. Will had another run, Hayley Henderson, Amber King, and Racheal Cabezas all with this first runs. The Sabercats were up 8-0 at the end of the third inning.
Horizon wasn’t ready to give up and began to make their comeback in the fourth and sixth inning. The Hawks score with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk to score them 3 runs and make the score 8-3 at the end of the fourth inning. During the sixth inning, Horizon scored with 2 singles, an error, and a walk which ended the game with a final score of 8-5.
The Sabercats will play again at home on Thursday, September 21 against Greeley West High School at 4:15 PM. Come out and support the team as they get closer to the regional tournament.
