On Oct. 23 the Mr. FRHS male pageant was held at Fossil Ridge High School in the auditorium. Student council ran the event, and the head of the committee was senior Maggie Betros. In the past FRHS has held the event King and Queen of the Ridge but this year was the first for the male pageant.“ [Student Council] got the idea from a leadership conference and… Collins, Rocky and Poudre all have one, we were the only school that hadn’t,” Betros said.
“[Student Council] had a sign up for those people interested, but then some people backed out, so people in council approached kids that they thought would be interested and asked them to participate,” Betros said. All of the contestants had fun with their performances and made the event entertaining and light-hearted for everyone.
Taking home the honor of first place was senior Will Fowler. Fowler signed up “to participate in the first event of its kind at Fossil” and to have fun during his last year at the school. “I was excited to show off my Fossil spirit, but it was really all for the fun,” Fowler said.
Fowler showed off his Zumba, a dance fitness program, skills in the talent portion, but the talent ranged from dancing to sword demonstrations. “The highlight of the show for me was the talent portion… We had so many contestants with such unique talents, it was so fun to watch,” Betros said.
