Some of Fossil Ridge High School’s best thespians and technical theater members will be attending the 48th Colorado State Thespian Conference (Thes Con) from Dec. 6-8 to attend workshops, perform, and watch some of the best full-length productions in Colorado.
This year, FRHS also has a state officer this year: Senior Savannah Lloyd. Lloyd is one of ten state student officers for Colorado Thespians. Not only is she participating in the Individual Event: Musical Theatre Solo, but she is also working behind the scenes at the event. She describes it as the busiest time of year for officers. “We teach a workshop at the Junior Thespian Conference the afternoon before, as well as assist the Region I International Officer during his leadership workshop…State officers encourage donations for BC/EFA(Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS) through a silent auction, boys versus girls competition, and a “Dinner with the SSOs(State Student Officer)” raffle. We chaperone the dance, take head count of workshops, help back stage for Main Stage productions, and much much more!”
Lloyd has been going to Thes Con since her freshman year and is very excited to finally give back to the organization that provides “the highlight of December – yes, even better than Christmas.”
To prepare for Thes Con, Poudre School District held its very first PSD Pre-State Showcase. Those planning on going to Thes Con had to first perform at this showcase with thespians from Rocky Mountain High School, Poudre High School, and Fort Collins High School. Students had a month and a half to prepare their pieces. Lloyd said the event was very successful.
