Chris Pine, Aaron Taylor Johnson and Florence Pugh star in the movie Outlaw King, a 2019 Netflix Original directed by David Mackenzie. It is co-written, produced, and directed by David Mackenzie. It hard its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, 2018 and was released on Netflix shortly after.
The 14th century Scottish ‘Outlaw King’ Robert Bruce, used courage, bravery, and passion to defeat the much larger and better equipped rival English Army. Rioting erupted in the English population as they found our that their president, William Wallace, was accused of high treason and crimes; which caused Robert Bruce to plan a revolt. A large war erupted between the Bruce and Wallace on the top of Loudoun Hill, despite being outnumbered six to one. Realizing the battle is hopeless, Wallace orders a retreat and surrenders ending the rivalry.
David Mackenzie created an amazing visually interesting movie with lots of gore and fighting. Along with amazing acting from all the cast members and great production value, this movie had a bit confusing plot line with events happening that don’t truly make sense to the story line. Though, the movie is a must watch for everyone and is definitely worth the two hours to watch.
