Have you ever wanted to know where the end of the road really is? Well I have, and I took the liberty upon myself to figure that information out— and not just going online to look it up. I actually got on the road and drove to the end of it in both directions.

It took me a while to decide what road I wanted to drive. I wanted to pick a road that I drove every day, and had importance to the city I live in. I chose Harmony Road because it was important to the place I live, and I drive it every single day.

I decided to drive to the East first. It takes you through Severance, and that is not a huge town, but Harmony is a fairly important road there. Next, it takes you through Eaton wich is a bigger town although still not large, Harmony is not a very important road there. After Eaton, there is not much at all, other than oil equipment and a few houses. Once you get to the outskirts of Fort Morgan, the road abruptly ends at a road closed sign. There is no option to turn left or right, it is just the end. Now, I knew that the East side would not be that exciting, but I must say that was a very long two hours.

The Following weekend I decided I would drive the Western side. The Western side goes through Fort Collins, and around Horsetooth. It is truly beautiful. After Horsetooth, there was not much left besides just driving in the mountains. There was a lot of driving around blind corners while going more and more into the mountains. It was lots of rocks and trees, but not a lot of anything. I passed a few shops along the side of the road, but that was really it. It came to a T-point where I had to turn left and head back to civilization, or go right towards Utah and father into the mountains.

Upon returning from my drive I decided to do a bit more research and learn about the history of the road. I learned that the road itself was named after a settlement a few miles South of where Fort Collins is now. They chose that name in hope that the people who lived there would live in harmony and peace with each other and land around them. I also learned that Harmony School, the school on Harmony and Timberline was the first school in Fort Collins, and has been rebuilt several times. Nearly everything to the South of Harmony was built in the 1990’s or newer. Where all this stuff is now, there used to be a settlement with the name of Harmony
