Fossil Baseball Falls to Poudre
Baseball season is in full swing and the Fossil Ridge Baseball team took on the Poudre Impalas on their home field on Wednesday, April 3. The two teams were competing in a non-conference city game and both were ready for a fight.
The game started off slow as the Sabercats could not seem to hit the ball in the right spot to create any runs. The Impalas took advantage of their speed along with their team batting average and made good progress at the top of the first inning. The Sabercats still could not get into rhythm going into the second inning; the Sabercats struggled to get points on the board. The Impalas got lucky with some great hits, which put them ahead 4-0 going into the third inning.
At the top of the third inning, the Sabercats found their momentum and started out with a few singles and a double. The Sabercats gained confidence and got back into the game, scoring four runs in the third inning, which  left a 4-4 tie between teams going into the fourth inning.
The fourth and fifth innings ran dry for both teams—neither teams could score any runs. Then, the hits began to pick up and the Impalas pulled ahead with two runs. The sabercats could not gain back the momentum they had in the third inning and came up short with a 5-6 loss against the Impalas.
The Fossil Ridge Baseball teams plays again on Friday, April 5 at Arvada West. Be sure to support your Sabercats.
