The owls of Fort Collins
Calling all amateur photographers and nature enthusiasts: a family of five great horned owls have recently found a home in the big tree just across from Fossil Ridge High School. Students have just a few days before these owls find a new home. Along the sidewalk, near Twin Silo Park, Fort Collins residents flocked to capture these magnificent birds. Many of the “bird-watchers” were simply driving past the tree when they saw the birds.
In the past summers, eagles have made a home in a large tree near the pond, just east of Fossil Ridge High School. Similar to the owls, residents of nearby areas came to view the birds.
That is the beauty of Colorado—that students are lucky enough to spot untouched wildlife on their way to school.
