Moving states and schools can be both scary and exciting. You might not know anyone yet but you are excited to start over and meet new people.
Evanne Nasypany, who teaches 3D art after longtime art teacher Karen Lemmon’s retirement in May, moved here from Texas, where she taught for 21 years.
“I started exploring Colorado about a year ago, and it felt like something I couldn’t resist. It’s beautiful. Everywhere you go are mountains and trees, especially in this area,” Nasypany said. “And I love both of those things. It makes me feel like back home where I grew up in upstate New York. But even prettier.”
Nasypany has also found Fossil’s environment as positive as the scenery.
“This is the job that I want working 3D, but what I didn’t know is how amazing the staff would be around every corner,” she said. “I feel like I have support, and it’s just better and better.”
Students appreciate Nasypany’s positive attitude.
“I like that she’s energetic and she’s focused on what she does,” said freshman Guilherme Zerbinatti.
“She’s very nice and helps me a lot with all my artwork,” said sophomore Cole Howshar.
Nasypany plans to carry her teaching styles with her- styles that have made so many students happy to have her as their teacher.
“I would say, this past summer, one of my kids told me that I taught her all of her passions in life, and that was like, that’s something that she’s going to carry forever. And I’ve had teachers do that for me, and that’s what I hope to do for others,” said Nasypany.
After a big move it can be easy to feel scared or nervous, but Nasypany is happy to explore her new opportunities.
“[It] feels like there’s a lot of freedom, so I’m excited to kind of rest in that and just take it day by day, year by year, and just enjoy it,” said Nasypany
Nasypany sets goals for herself and her students before each year starts, and she is excited to start tackling this year’s goals.
“I think growth always, both in my students and myself, and then that it’s enjoyable, but there is like a freshness of wanting to learn more and explore in,” said Nasypany.
