Soccer team is close
The Fossil Ridge High School boys’ soccer team has started the season off well but not quite where they want to be. There current record is 6-5-1. The record does not indicate that they are having a great season thus far but the team continues to persevere and they are on the brink of more success. “We are really close to success. We are a well-rounded team with top notch defense and possession time” said senior Cameron Rudd.
The soccer team has been up and down all season but Rudd believes there is one key aspect to the team that can make a huge difference in their record. Rudd said “we need to shoot more.” He believes that the team has done really well in every other aspect of the game but if the team can shoot more he thinks that will make a huge difference in the outcome of games.
The team believes that their chemistry gives them an edge against their opponents. They are all really close and they have worked on building their relationships all throughout their high school career. During the offseason, the team not only focuses on training but also building that team chemistry, “We had drop-ins once a week for two hours as well as some conditioning camps,” said Rudd, “We also did team building activities together.” This chemistry helps the team to achieve their goals for the season.
Lastly, the team is grateful for the overwhelming support they have received this year from the fan base, “The fans are awesome, we have so much respect for them this year,” said Rudd.
The team believes they have many things going for them but if they can fix the number of shots they take per game they believe their chances at success are much higher. “Our chances are pretty good of winning as long as we are willing to shoot,” said Rudd, “We are top notch in all other categories.”
The next game for the team is Oct. 15, 2013 against Loveland at Fossil Ridge at 6 p.m. in Fort Collins, Colorado.
