Rhonda Woodall, the front office secretary, will be retiring after eight years at Fossil Ridge High School. She came to FRHS in May of 2006, and, since then, has had more than enough responsibilities to keep her busy. Whether it’s organizing all the announcements every day, arranging substitute teachers or sorting the mail that comes through, Woodall has done a lot to make sure the school runs efficiently.
“I do all the purchasing for the building, including all the paper that we need,” Woodall said. “ Let me tell you, that’s a lot of paper.”
Kim Visee, the health technician, has backed Woodall up on busy days. Her biggest job, though, is to greet every single person who comes in the building; students, teachers, and all.
“I’ll miss the kids. The great building and the talent we have here at Fossil. Seeing the students every morning, I’ll definitely miss that,” Woodall said, adding that she’ll also miss watching the basketball games. As for what’s next in Woodall’s life, she will be retiring March 31 so she can enjoy some downtime traveling with her husband (their first trip is to France and Italy for two weeks). She also has 16 grandkids to keep her busy, and also plans to spend time with hobbies like reading and writing.
Woodall is looking forward to leaving the job she loves on a positive note, and will be training a new secretary once one is hired. “It’s better to go at the top of your game while everything’s good,” she said. “If you wait until you’re miserable and hate what you do for a living, there’s no point in it.”
