Freshman Braxton Bertolette upcoming basketball player for FRHS

Braxton Bertolette has been playing basketball since age 4 with his coach/ father. “I love playing basketball, it’s a way to clear my head and I feel confident whenever I pick up the ball.” Bertolette says

Bertolette made varsity as a freshman, which as we know is a big deal. He feels honored to be playing with the amazing talent on his team and can’t wait to finish out the year on a good note with his boys. “My dad wanted me to start playing and has pushed the idea on me since I was a kid but when I reaching middle school I realized how much I enjoyed the game. The fact that I always have a team and a place I belong is really nice too.” Bertolette says

Bertolette says his team is without a doubt like a second family to him, he feels that some of the freshman look up to him in some ways but in many he looks up to his upperclassman and feels comforted when they give him advice and correct him “It’s nice knowing someone’s looking out for you on the court and knowing that you always have their backs as well.” Bertolette says.

Fossil really is lucky to have a player so dedicated and determined to hold our good name at the school. Baseketball isnt the only thing Bertolette spends his time doing “ It’s hard sometimes to keep up with school and sports but without basketball I don’t think I would know what to do with all my time.  Although I like texting and chilling with my homies when I do have time.”

We also asked Bertolette if he’s ever considered trying any other sport or if he has ever played any other sports? He tells us that briefly in middle school he played football for a year or two but nothing compares to his love for basketball, also with his dad being a former basketball coach he doesn’t see the point because he already has an advantage of getting help for free.

What happens when you have an off game? How can you turn it around? “Whenever you have an off game, when you just aren’t really feeling it and you don’t know how to turn it around, it can be frustrating. You can’t beat yourself up too much you just know you need to practice more.” Bertolette says

Bertolette also shares what advice he would give to someone who wants to get to be where you are? “I would tell them to work hard and good things will happen. Like my dad always says perfect practice makes perfect.” Good job to Braxton Bertolette and the whole varsity Basketball team.
