Netherlands steals the podium again in speed skating

All three medals of the Men’s 500 M speedskating went to the Netherlands on Monday. The Dutch also took all three medals in the 5000m event. Michel Mulder took the gold with his twin brother Ronald Mulder taking bronze. Silver went to Jan Smeekens who was only 0.012 seconds behind Michel.

Shortrack Men’s 1500 M goes to Canada’s Hamelin

Canada’s Charles Hamelin took the gold in the 1500 M short track, followed by China’s Tianyu Han and Russia’s Viktor Ahn. A veteran of the sport, Hamelin won his third Olympic gold after winning two last year in Vancouver. America’s only competitor in finals, J.R. Celski, followed Ahn in fourth place.

Team USA’s Mancuso takes bronze

Julia Mancuso took home the only medal for Team USA on day 3 during the Alpine Skiing Women’s Super-Combined Slalom. Mancuso was beat out by Germany’s Maria Hoefl-Riesch who took the gold and Austria’s Nicole Hosp. This is her fourth Olympic medal, making her the first American women to win medals of every color in Alpine skiing.
