The Fossil Ridge High School girls’ basketball teams’ most recent game against Monarch High School was a nonstop brawl with close scores from start to finish.
The first two points on Fossil’s side were scored by sophomore Sami Steffeck. From there it was an edge of your seat showdown as the ball passed from team to team until the saber cats finally came back up with a 15-10 score.
By the start of the third quarter the SaberCats continue to stay in gear and hunt down the enemies with a close 23-19 on our side. Savannah Smith, making two pointers left and right is already quickly redeeming herself after staying out the past two games with a broken nose, but she’s back with a face guard and stronger than ever.
Sitting in the stands performing in pep band was Kathleen Lee, who performs at every game. “The important players really standout and shine, and we always watch and definitely support our team,” Lee said.
“Our best player is Savannah, bless her heart with a broken nose, and to be honest I’m still learning names but she’s who stands out. With quick shooting players and friends and family there to support the whole way through, we’re sure to win every game,” Fossil Ridge principal Will Allen said.
Smith finished with the game with the last two points leading fossil ridge to a victory with 56-51.
