Co-written by Emma Buss and Shelby Pfau

[1.] Your Favorite Weapon (2001, Early pop-punk) Brand New– If you need to listen to some music while silently planning out how to get back at your teacher for that hard test he/she gave out, this album is your match. This timeless band puts out an album filled with spite and anger that every teenager feels at one point during a school year.

[2.] Take This To Your Grave (2003, Pop-punk) Fall Out Boy — The first studio album released by one of pop-punk’s most evolved artists, Take This To Your Grave is a timeless contemplation of fast-paced, guitar-heavy melodies with connectible lyrics inspired by love and youth. It’s a fab album for whatever you’re feeling.

[3.] Dirty Work (2011, Pop-punk) All Time Low– This is a quintessential pop-punk album all about romance and good times. Quoted by Alternative Press as “new age pop-punk,” the fourth studio album exemplifies a risky step taken by the band. Whether you qualify the album as good or bad, take a listen while you break from the hours of studying.

[4.] Youth (2013, Pop-punk) Citizen — With angst-y lyrics and riffs that are easy to sympathize with, Citizen’s Youth sounds like it was crafted for the nights spent sitting on your bed in anger. But at the same time, it’s still chill enough to be great background music for when it’s time to work on homework.

[5.] Disgusting (2014, Metalcore) Beartooth — Debut album from Ohio rockers, Beartooth, Disgusting serves up catchy guitar riffs and plenty of breakdowns. If you have trouble waking up in the early morning for school, play this on the way to school. It’ll wake you up.

[6.] If You Were a Movie, This Would Be Your Soundtrack (2012, Post-hardcore) Sleeping With Sirens– As an acoustic EP, Sleeping With Sirens beautifully mastered their soft side compared to the guitar driven vocals they portray in their other albums.

[7.] Wishful Thinking (2014, Pop-punk) Neck Deep — UK lads, Neck Deep, are breaking the mold of pop-punk and making it big. They’re the first British band to ever really make it into the pop-punk scene, and it’s well deserved. Wishful Thinking, their first full-length LP, is the perfect album for Friday nights eating pizza with friends.

[8.] Maybe This Place Is the Same and We’re Just Changing (2014, Pop-punk) Real Friends– From the band’s first full length album, it delivers confessional lyrics while having a relaxed vibe perfect for a late night cram sessions.

[9.] Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge (2004, Alt-rock) My Chemical Romance– If you are looking for heart-thumping, foot stomping album, look for the pros My Chemical Romance to deliver. As the new era began for the band, the idea of incorporating theatricality and pop-punk emerged. This album is needed to get you through a tough homework session or an extra boost in the morning before school.

[10.] You’re Gonna Miss It All (2014, Pop-punk) Modern Baseball– The guys of Modern Baseball are champs at writing lyrics that any teenager can relate to easily, and it’s presented in a way that makes it easy to listen to in any mood. Have this album on hand to cater to whatever you’re feeling that day.
