Max Zuieback, Staff Writer
Max Zuieback, a senior, is embarking on his first year as a part of Etched in Stone. He joined this class in hopes of challenging his prior writing knowledge and pushing himself to new standards outside of his usual comfort zone. Zuieback is anticipating that this kind of fast paced environment will prove to him how strongly journalism impacts not only what, but how people think.
Zuieback lives with his parents, younger siblings, and their two dogs - a Yellow Labrador, Winston, and a rescued Mutt, Tucker. He describes his relationship with his family as very bonded, as he loves spending time with them when possible.
As a born and raised Fort Collins native, Zuieback played soccer, hockey and skied in elementary school before discovering his love for piloting. He has been behind the yoke, the plane’s equivalent of a steering wheel, since he was 13 years old. Zuieback believes that there is no possible feeling that can come close to the freedom of flight. As he continues to pursue this hobby, he is planning on getting his Private Pilot's License. So far, he has gone as far as Denver unaccompanied and this license will allow him to fly longer distances by himself.
Zuieback is very passionate about his love for music; specifically, electronic dance music, better known as EDM. He explains this type of music as “a great way to blow off steam and a way to release your emotions and let everything out while having a good time”. He has attended a large number of raves, so far, and is looking forward to warmer weather so he can get back into that kind of scene. Including this genre, his favorite creator at the moment is Zeds Dead, and he is hoping for more underground artists to come to light.
As for life after graduation, Zuieback intends on going to Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University studying Aerospace Engineering. This plan set in place will allow him to achieve his long term goal of being a pilot in the Navy.
