The boys’ soccer team played their last game on Monday, Oct. 29, when Fairview beat FRHS 2-1. This game was the last playoff game for FRHS and they didn’t go down without a fight. Senior goalkeeper Justin Aguero played his first full varsity game, and only let in two out of the several attempts shot at him. Senior Adam Blair scored the only goal for FRHS in the second half. The ball went right through the Fairview goalie’s gloves; rolling to the back of the net, shown in the video clip above.

The Fairview offense blew passed FRHS’ defense and scored. When the game ended, all the players dropped to their knees. Blair said, “I wanted our defense to just to pack it in and win.”

FRHS had many opportunities to score but made various errors costing them shots. Junior Sebastian Pimentel said “We felt a lot of disappointment, we had a lot of chances to get it in the goal and we just couldn’t.” The odds were not in FRHS’ favor, it was a tough game to lose.

Junior Andy Hoyt said, “We played Fairview earlier in the season so we knew what to expect, but a lot of things didn’t go our way.”

From another perspective, senior Nicole Chacho, a fan in the stands said, “It was heartbreaking watching the time go out and seeing all these players just drop.” The team was more upset that they couldn’t do more.

Overall, the guys had a tremendous season; they went 13-2. Head coach Shannon Clarke did well, putting the team under intense work outs and drills and getting them prepared physically and mentally. Clarke put his team in the best position for the season, making it one to remember for the 2012 boys’ soccer team.
