A constant bombardment of incoherent sounds has high school students raving for an auto-tuned, electrified, upbeat disaster—otherwise known as contemporary music.
In the midst of the chaotic noises, the art of real music can be found in the classics— or Fossils remarkable concert orchestra. The ensemble is ready to sooth and relieve those musically deprived. New freshmen musicians experience a different classroom setting from previous years, ready to create beautiful harmonies on a higher skill and analytical level.
Most new members of concert orchestra come from middle schools that have required a music class as a mandatory part of their schedules. The transition into high school orchestra has kept only those passionate about music and their instrument as members, or as they call themselves, “orch-dorks.” Many of the freshmen expressed their gladness of having an orchestra comprising of eager students. Aidan Brady, a new sabercat stated, “We have a great orchestra because everyone that’s here, wants to be here.”
The concert orchestra is anticipating their first concert of the year— each musician intent on “capturing the composer’s spirit through music,” a focus of the whole orchestra. With difficult classical compositions by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Bach, and many other renowned composers, the young musicians are ardently preparing for an impressive performance.
“We are all super excited and the students are working hard,” claimed Louie Silvestri, Fossil’s orchestra teacher. The enthusiastic students are all looking forward to a terrific year and as Bryce Philliber, a freshman stated, “Orchestra’s pretty fly.”

While I may be in the Symphony orchestra, I will say that the Concert Orchestra is performing to an astoundingly high level. And this article does a good job on this. Getting quotes from students does add a lot to the article, but I’d really like to see a few comments from Sylvestri, as he is the teacher of the class and would have a lot to say. Otherwise this article feels like a fantastic read.
