Memory? “My favorite childhood memory/memories was when I performed in the annual Greensboro Coliseum’s Holiday Concert each Christmas. Back in North Carolina, my home skating rink would always be invited to skate in the city’s holiday show where over 15,000 people would come and watch. The 5am practices that went on forever those were my favorite things in the world. When we finally got to perform it was so fun. “
Jesse Goldstone has been described as spunky, funny, nice and smart. But those are things that people who don’t know much about her see from a chance meeting. Jesse should be described as so much more.
A previous competitive figure skater, Jesse made it into the highest competition level of figure skating before she decided to retire from competing. Describing herself as determined, empathetic goofy and independent, this senior has big plans for after high school.
Currently planning to attend Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. Jesse says, “ First of all, I want to end up in New York City one day, so I see going to college an hour away from the city isn’t such a bad start. I also want to major/concentrate in Advertising and Public relations with a minor in something fashion related – maybe fashion merchandising. Marist offers all of those things plus amazing internships in the city with some of my favorite and well-known brands. It is also a smaller school which I like because I prefer small classes. “
Her mother adopted Jesse as a small child. So it is no surprise that she would label her as her most influential family member “I’d say my mom has had the most impact on me. She has most definitely molded me into who I am today. Besides her, my grandma is the second most influential family member. She is the most kind hearted and generous woman I know. I look up to my mom the most because she has raised me single-handedly and I’ve seen her work so hard to be where she is today. She’s strong willed and very determined, which hopefully has rubbed off on me. The most influential thing I think she has instilled upon me is how to be independent.”
“My family is hilarious. Profanity is our second language. We’re tight knit and will do anything for one another.” Hoping to accomplish her dream of living in the Big Apple in an apartment and following in the footsteps of the fashion world Jesse would love to hopefully accomplish working for one of her favorite companies. “My first dream job would be working at Kate Spade and creating ads and campaigns for them. I’d also love to be an event planner for any fashion company and plan out fashion shows and special events. And lastly, work in PR for any fashion company.”
Jesse’s perfect weekend would be homework free and preferably a three-day weekend. She’d spend the weekend with Ryan (her boyfriend) either lounging all day or going up to the mountains and exploring somewhere. A relaxing weekend may even include online clothes shopping. “I find that when I online shop (more like online clothes browsing) I calm down. Looking at new trends and seeing what various designers are putting out helps me take my mind off things. I also like to find dresses that I could theoretically wear, but don’t have the money nor occasion to where them to. Also, listening to music while doing anything helps me calm down.”
Looking forward to finishing a chapter in her life with the completion of high school, Jesse will miss her best friend Shawnea the most. “My best friend, Shawnea Pagat, has been the most influential friend. We are so opposite it’s ridiculous, but somehow our differences make the entire friendship. We agree on basically everything and hardly every fight. She laughs at my stupid jokes while also backing me up in anything I do. I do that same too. We are really supportive of each other. Right now, she’s going through things, and that has taught me to be extremely patient and very communicative with her. I’d say she’s the most influential because we have done so much together. Last year we basically spent everyday together. “
Senior year is coming to an end quickly and Jesse is ready for a fresh start at a new school in a new state. Her eye for fashion and friendly attitude towards others will get her far, but her optimism will get her even farther.

Why did Jesse decide to retire from skating? Has she ever been to New York or is she just assuming it’s going to be great? Jesse really seems like she has life after highschool figured out. This article is very detailed a few more clarifying questions would have been nice, but good job clarifying most things
