Humans of Fossil: Tyler Zuschneid

Tyler Zuschneid is a sophomore at Fossil Ridge and is dedicated to theatre. He’s been in theatre since he was 6 and has been in many professional shows here in Fort Collins. Along with his passion of theatre, he enjoys dancing, singing and would like to be on Broadway one day or to work at a Disney park.

Zuschneid has been doing choir since kindergarden and started theatre a few years later. “I love it so much, and I wouldn’t know what to do with my life without it. I have been in 5 professional shows at the main stage Lincoln center, and I plan on continuing to get bigger and brighter! I’m ready to go to college and study musical theatre”. Planning on being on Broadway someday, Tyler has started tap dance, voice lessons and has plans to attend a New York college to pursue a theatre degree.

Along with musical theatre, Zuschneid has been perfecting a few different talents. “Singing, dancing, and acting all at the same time may not seem like hard work, but it is. It takes extreme concentration, skill, and professionalism to make a believable performance considering randomly bursting into song is strange enough to begin with. Many people like plays more than musicals, and I feel bad for those people, why have a show with a great plot and NOT break into song, like why not? Musicals are so cheery and make anyone feel happy, or if you go and see a tragic musical, make people feel serious emotions”. Zuschneid enjoys theatre for more than just being the star, making new friends and families is a big part of his musical life. “When you see your cast every day for weeks on end, you start to build a special love and bond for each other. An unbreakable bond that will last a lifetime”.

Zuschneid has stuck with his passions in the art and performing classes at Fossil Ridge, enjoying art, theatre, and his choir classes. “Choir is a unique class in which people from all clubs and ‘branches’ of school come together to make something classical and beautiful. Choir is one of the very few places the average teenager has to slow down and gets to recognize the beauty in slow and graceful things”. Playing a large role in his life, choir has a special place in his stage life. But, Broadway isn’t the only thing Zuschneid sees in his potential future. “If Broadway doesn’t work out, I would be more than happy to work at Disneyland singing my little heart out, or dancing in the parades, being a face character, or even picking up trash. I don’t care at all. My love for Disney is so deep and unstoppable that I don’t think anyone could change how much I love Disney”. With a large respect for Disney and all of the princess movies, his favorites are the orignial three, Cinderella, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. These three movies were hand painted and drawn on each individual frame. “The movies are true artworks, and are so amazingly beautiful.”
