Spencer Cleverly, a junior at Fossil Ridge High School, is very involved in the wrestling program at our school.  He has been wrestling for five years beginning in 6th grade.  With morning practice and cutting weight, wrestling takes up a lot of time. “Wrestling takes up most of my time.. But, I really enjoy the friendships that I am able to create through wrestling and the dedication that wrestling teaches me. I think everyone at this school should know  how cool wrestling is and that more people should to come to Wrestling matches because it is hard to go out and compete when there aren’t more people watching ”  said Cleverly.

Band is also one of Cleverly’s interests.  At FRHS, he is in the marching band and in regular band.  With the marching band season over, Cleverly is focusing on band at school to prepare for marching band next year.  The bond between the students in the marching band is what has helped them become friends.  “My favorite place I’ve been is New York with the marching band last year.  It was so fun to play there and be with everyone in the marching band”  said Cleverly.
After high school, Cleverly wants to go to a year of school at BYU and then serve a mission for his church.  “I would like to attend BYU because I really enjoy the environment that is at BYU.  At BYU, I would like to major in Sports Medicine because I really enjoy sports and I would like a career that involves sports” said Cleverly.

At school, Cleverly is a member of Key Club, NHS, and FCCLA.  “There is so much to do at fossil.  You can find any club to meet your interests so everyone should be a part of something whether it’s a sport or a club” said Cleverly.  For his clubs, he spends a lot of time inside and outside of school working on committees and volunteering to help out the club.

At home, Cleverly lives with his mom, dad, and younger brother.  He also has an older brother serving a mission in Peru and an older sister attending BYU.  “I really enjoy doing anything with my family like camping or watching movies or just being together.  I look up to my older siblings a lot.  Its cool to see everything they have accomplished”  said Cleverly.

“In the beginning of high school I wish I would’ve pushed myself academically so I would have an easier time now.  Some advice I would give to freshman is that they need to push themselves academically even if it may seem hard, it will be worth it”  Said Cleverly.
