Carolynne Camp is a sophomore at Fossil Ridge High School. You might know her since she is in the symphony orchestra, concert choir and the color guard. Students may have even run into her in the hallway. She is quite hard to forget with her blonde hair and pretty smile.

Camp likes music, and music likes her back. She has been playing the bass since she was in sixth grade. She is a part of the school orchestra as the first bass, started playing in the Loveland orchestra a few months ago, and is currently practicing her audition for the Fort Collins “All City Honor Orchestra”. “I am taking private lessons to be ready for it,” Camp said. She is also planning on getting a scholarship using her bass player talent, as she said, “There are a lot of scholarships for girl bassistes, since not a lot of people, especially women, choose to play it.”

She has been singing for ten years now. Carolynne was a part of the Centennial Children’s Chorus for five years, and graduated from this choir . Camp is now involved in the concert choir at Fossil. Carolynne would like to get cast for the musical West Side Story, this year, so she can incorporate all of her passions; music, singing, and dancing, into one activity. Not only can she sing and play an instrument, but she can also dance. Carolynne has been in the color guard for 2 years now, and is going to continue participating in it. She likes the idea of dancing, spinning the flag, and running around on the football field. Even though band is hard work and is time consuming, she enjoys the outcome of it!

Swimming is another love of hers, that’s why Carolynne is a part of a summer swim team for the South College Community Association. Last year she won second place in the Fort Collins City Meet for the 100 butterfly.

Carolynne has always wanted to be a meteorologist and go out in the field and measure everything. During her childhood, she was always playing outside in the rain, and was scared but interested in tornadoes. “They are phenomenal!” she said. She has had this interest for meteorology for many years, which is why she is looking forward to go to a science school in Oklahoma, even though she loves Colorado. One of Carolynne’s dreams is to become a storm chaser, because, according to her, it would be so much fun to see and chase tornadoes. Even though it seems like a funny idea, she loves the idea of being out on the field. She does not want to forget about music, which is why Carolynne wants to get a Bachelor’s degree in music and major in music conducting in college. She would also like to be a conductor or a teacher.

As she said, Carolynne is not only a school and music nerd, she likes to do other things such as reading Utopian books or stories with a love triangle, The Hunger Games is her last favorite reading. She enjoys watching old English TV shows, such as Downton Abbey, and Sherlock has a special place in her heart. Her favorite place to eat would have to be Jays and she likes to order the chocolate raviolis for dessert. She enjoys Noodles too, where she orders the Japanese noodles with veggies. She also loves ice cream, especially the one dollar ice cream cones from McDonalds. Even though she does not have much free time between school, homework, and practice, she stills hang out with friends. “I like watching a movie or just relaxing when I don’t have anything to do”.

Family is really important to Carolynne, as she loves spending quality time with her two sisters, her parents, and her best friends who are “a part of my family” in accordance with her. The qualities she values the most in a person are compassion and humour, and she wants them to be there for her anytime. “I like to make embarrassing moments and accidents seem like a joke, so I need my friends to do the same thing.” She needs people who are going to have her back if she ever falls.

As with everyone else, Camp has dreams and especially one dream that she wishes could become true. She is a “perfect mother girl” who wants a yellow house with a white picket fence, a good job, a nice and loving husband, and two kids.Having the perfect ideal family has always been her dream. However, she is also realistic and knows that it is never going to happen so Carolynne will do her best to get a good job she enjoys and use her talents to fulfil her dreams and reach her goals. Her current goal is to take and pass all the classes she needs to graduate high school on time.

She concluded the interview by giving 2 facts. One was her favorite color, which would be a dark blue or deep purple. She then stated a quote which resumes who she is, who she wants to be and what she believes is the most important in life “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud” (1 Corinthians 13:4). This verse shows her how she should love people, be patient, be kind and not boast. This is Carolynne Camp.
