Humans of Fossil: Liz Staudacher

Liz Staudacher is a junior volleyball player at Fossil Ridge High School who has huge dreams in and out of her sport. She is a member of the varsity team at Fossil and also competes on a club team called the Diff during the off season. “I really enjoy spending time with all my teammates on and off the court,” Staudacher said. Her team has traveled to numerous tournaments around the country, recently returning from one in Las Vegas. Staudacher is currently being recruited by large colleges such as Bucknell, Baylor, and the University of South Carolina.

Volleyball isn’t the only aspect of Staudacher’s life that she is proud of. She works very hard in the classroom and is on the Principal’s List for maintaining a 3.75 GPA. Staudacher’s dream career to be employed by a hospital as an orthopedic surgeon. “I find all my science and math classes very interesting. Being a surgeon is a way to use my interests to help people in a positive way,” explains Staudacher. She also claims that her addiction to the TV show Grey’s Anatomy may be a factor in her career decision making.

Liz Staudacher is a exemplar of what a fantastic student athlete looks like. Whether she is spiking the ball on the court or studying for her next science midterm, Staudacher’s hard work is very evident in everything she does.

Favorite thing about volleyball? Being a part of a team with such great people who care about each other.

Favorite pre-game snack? Fruit smoothies are great to fuel up before a game.

Favorite hobby? Hiking, skiing, or basically anything outdoors.

Favorite TV show? Grey’s Anatomy. Liz says that Grey’s is her Netflix binge show and admits to being addicted to it.

A weird personality trait? Liz likes to organize everything around her house when she gets bored.

Favorite season? Autumn is great because of all the leaves and the cooler temperatures. Liz likes to take advantage of the milder weather outside by continuing to hike without worrying about the undesirable summer heat.

Favorite celebrity? No one can beat Blake Lively.
