STEM demo hopes to gain student interest

The STEM Academy capstone projects need more students involved per year to continue as an option. There are between 30 and 40 students involved in STEM in each grade every year, but not enough of those students are participating in capstone work. Capstone teams should have 10 people, and the goal is that there are at least two teams each year. This year however, there was only one team of five.

Students work after school from six to nine on Tuesday and Thursday nights from September to February to complete their project. As a team, the students decide what project they want to work on by voting when they apply to STEM Academy. Anyone interested is able to be involved with the project, and the application process involves voting on what the year’s capstone will be.
