On Tuesday, January 17th, the Fossil Ridge girls swimming senior night was underway at Epic. Fossil, with determination and perseverance easily won last nights meet 218 to 96 against Mountain Range High School.
Kicking off with the One-meter, Mountain Range’s Taylor Jackson tapped the wall first, with a total of 264.05 points, making a loud statement to begin the night.
Although Fossil lost their first match of the evening, they didn’t lose another event.
Not only did the ridges Bailey Kovac finish first in the 50 free, she had a time of 00.24.86. In addition, she placed first in the 100 butterfly last night with a time of 01:00.26. “I really had a drive to place first in everything I competed in last night.” Kovac explained, “ I only have one year with these girls left and to make the most out of our special night. You only have one ‘senior’ year.”
Fossil’s Zoe Bartel placed first in the 100 free stroke with a finishing time of 00:55.61. Also, she placed first in the 200 individual medley, her time was 02:16.94. Junior Cameron Kovac, who finished second with a time of 02:18.31.
Fossil’s Caraline Baker placed first in the 100 backstroke, she had a time of 01:03.49. Hadley Nelson finished second with a time of 01:04.04. Finally, Elizabeth Mitchell placed third with a time of 01:04.21.
Up next was the the 100 Breaststroke, Coleen Gillilan finished first with a time of 01:04.63.78. Also, Andrea Niemann placed second with a final time of 01:11.78. Erica Lewis finished third with a time of 01:17.45.
The 200 Freestyle was won by Kylee Alons, her time was 01:54.03. Nelson placed second with time of 02:08.61 and Mitchel placed third with a time of 02:12.66.
Baylee Stewart placed first in the 500 freestyle with a time of 05:31.56. Jaidy Nelson placed second with time of 05:47.62. , Mountain Ranges Morgen Moody placed third,
Fossil’s relay team placed first in the 200 free relay, the 200 medley relay, and the 400 free relay. The 200 free relay consisted of Baker, Madeleine Mason, Cameron Kovac, and Alons. They finished with a time of 01:39.27. The 200 medley relay had Stewart, Andrea Niemann, Baker, and Mason yet again. The ridge finished first with a finishing time of 01:50.67.All in all, the 400 free relay would wrap up the girls senior night. Bartel, Niemann, Stewart, and Alons gave it their all last night. In doing so, they won event after event last night.
